In Gaerne’s line of off-road boots, the SG10 stands as the little brother to the apex-predator SG12, providing pro-level protection at a slightly more-affordable price point that’s within the reach of more riders. The SG10 has more similarities with the 12 than differences. You still get a very stiff, traditionally stitched sole, excellent comfort with antimicrobial interior linings and memory foam padding throughout, and a robust set of alloy buckles that are some of the easiest to use on any off-road boot.

The main differences found on the SG10 include a dual hinge system with traditional hinges instead of the glide plate system on the SG12, and a calf opening/shin plate that is non-adjustable. Protection is kept on par with the SG12 as the SG10 still has a large layout of hard impact protection on the exterior, a very stiff lower with heavily reinforced toe box and heel cup, and the Razorback system that supports the ankle and prevents hyperextension and hyperflexion.

All in, the SG10 is a serious alternative to the SG12 if you’re looking to save a few bucks. Support and protection are some of the highest you’ll find and comfort doesn’t suffer in the slightest because of that rigidity. That makes the SG10 ideal for track and mx riders that love a solid, traditionally styled boot.

Best boots for wide feet

Safety deposit boxes for your feet! These boots have the best safety features of any boot I can wear. Toe box is nice and wide for my duck like feet. Size runs true, ordered these in size 13 and thats what they are. Immediately removed metal toe cap to prevent sliding when climbing uphill. Came from glue on soul and didnt think I would like the stitch on soul, I was wrong. These are by far better. Stand on my feet 98% of the time and could feel the pegs through the previous boots, Alpine star and Leatt . Tried on 12s and they were way too skinny at the foot and ankle compared to these 10s. Will have geez, on my feet for life, dont know why I waited this long to invest in real protection for my feet and not slippers. Rubber on inside of boots is my favorite feature! New level of control that I have never felt on a dirtbike, can control the rear end of the bike with my legs and hips like never before.

More protection than Teck 7s. Very comfortable true to size I don't even get sand in boots when riding on a sand track

Love my Gaerne SG10s

I've had a pair of these boots for close to 10 years and I love them. These were bought to replace my old ones that are beyond their useful life. Love the fact that you can replace buckles and straps if they become damaged.

Great boots

Great fit, had a bit of trouble shifting with them at first (like any mx boot). Quick search on the tube led to some good sources for breaking them in before riding with them which helped a ton.

Guerneville sg-10 Boots

The most Comfortable MX Boot made, I really like the built-in ankle brace support, I've just recently received my Second pair, the first pair lasted forever, still good boots, just riding in the Pacific northwest. Lots of water, they just kind of shrunk. Like I said, BEST BOOTS MADE!!! Clinton

Absolutely recommended

Amazing. My son loves them. They were a little big but that was my fault. He is in between kid and adult sizes. The kids sizes all seemed too small so we went with an adult size The only issue is the uppers are a bit taller on him than ideal. He says they are extremely comfortable. Toe box is good.
Once broken in, walking and moving foot is good. Craftsmanship seems really good. They seem to be holding up well. The only thing I would do differently is not buying white. Not cheap but when it comes to quality and safety, I guess the money is worth it.

Best boot I've worn after other brands

After Sidi SRS and alpinestar tech 7 I'm back on Gaerne for the 2nd pair. These are the best for me and will stick with them from now on.

Great boots with some reservations

I love these boots and the buckles are clearly the best in the industry, but I could not wear them. I am a 10.5 to 11 shoe normally and so i ordered the 10 first, which was too small, so RMATV were awesome and swapped them out for me. WIth the new boots the shin was plenty big around my knee braces and big calfs, the footbed was perfect, but they pinched at the hinge. I fgured since the were plenty big everywhere else, that these would break in and they did not. They hurt everytime i rode on the ankle, and finally after 8 rides i had to retire and buy soemthing else. Maybe I need a larger size or something, but for me they hurt. Aweson company and boot, just not for me

My Alpinestars squeak at the ankle hinge when i walk in them...do the Gaerne's squeak?

Yes , sometimes one will squeak when I have been riding in sand . Wash them and apply a small amount of WD- 40 at hinge will help. Wipe plastic area around hinge with WD-40 on rag helps mine.

I wear a 10.5 shoe and a 11 in the SG10. It can go either way on size , up are down. If you have a wide foot I would do the size 10.

The ankle pivot is a little different, and the way the boot straps around your leg. The sg10 is s very good boot!!!

I wear a size 9 EE shoe. I purchased size 10 in the Gaerne 12 and they fit perfect. I love the boots. One problem......I later purchased knee braces. I have large calves so I could not wear the knee braces in with the Gaerne boots because they do not extend out enough. I bought a pair of the Sidi Crossfire 3 TA boots because they have an adjustable upper that can be extended to fit large calves with knee braces. I have liked those boots equally as well as the Gaerne. In the Sidi I purchased a size 9.5.

The Sg10 boots have 4 buckles that are all adjustable with a wider heavier Velcro strap at the top. There comfortable and fairly easy to walk in once broken in.

I just bought some SG10, the feel is great everywhere but my ankles, super tight. Is that a place that will break in over time? I’ve never owned Gaerne before. Thanks in advance for your info.

Yes they will break in over time , loosen up slightly an keep the snug fit for that great protection an support .. love the boots .

This is what is stated in the description, yet in the specs it says the top two buckles ARE adjustable, so which is it?

Yes the top two buckles slide in or out , like the bottom two.. My problem is, I wear a size 10-D, I've had two pairs over 15 years or so I have a new pair and they feel like a size smaller, not real happy,

They are really good in wet conditions but I wont say they are completely waterproof. The opening in the front will allow water to seep into the boot.

Can you adjust the buckles to be a little looser to wear TP199 knee guards with the SG-10s? Not talking lack of guide plate, talking buckle adjustment. Thanks.

The buckles can be adjusted. I wear Asterisk knee braces and the longest adjustment on the buckle was not enough. I had to buy the longer buckle inserts for them to work.

How do these compare to Alpinestars sizing? I wear a 12 in the Tech 7's and have read to size down other places online. Any truth to this?

I know a few people who regularly wear a size 12 do size down to an 11 with this boot. They have just a slightly wider sole than a "regular" size.
