The Alpinestars Vence Drystar Jacket is another piece of Astars’ tech touring lineup and a jacket that’s best for 2 to 3 season, cold-weather touring and adventure riding. If you’re familiar with Astars’ jackets, you’ll see many similarities with the Andes V2 Jacket. However the Vence distinguishes itself with a more sophisticated combination of exterior fabrics that deliver better weather resistance, more abrasion resistance, and a general bump up in durability overall.
Inside the jacket there’s a removable thermal liner that works well for the colder months, and the Drystar waterproof membrane that makes the jacket waterproof. But because the waterproof membrane is actually built into the outer shell, the jacket’s venting leads directly to your chest—that means the Vence is still usable in warmer weather. Toss in several points of fit adjustment, movement panels that keep the jacket from being restrictive, and pockets for a full set of armor, and the Vence becomes one of the most versatile jackets for commuting to off-road touring.
