No, comes pre-oiled out of the box ready for use.
Brian DNot sure what extra ring you are referring to? On the open end you have the hose clamp recess, while the opposite end is closed with a small lip. The hard rubber portions also serve to rest against the air filter box guides. Include a photograph for additional help.
Jeffrey WPaul, thank you for your questions. I looked into this and we don't have this listed for the 1995 Xplorer 400. However, we do have this air filter for the 96 Xplorer 400 which is the same one in the '95. You can go ahead and order the '96 filter for this machine and it will work just fine.
Florencia BHi David, yes it does fit in the stock airbox of the Yamaha but to install and remove, instead of the 1 bolt for the stock filter you need to remove 8 bolts and the ones on the bottom are a pain.
Paul VI had to purchase the pre filters
Paul DYou can get a pre-filter if you want.I have a pre-filter on my 2 stroke, but I don't on my 4 stroke 4x4. I do however have 2 filters that i rotate . I put a new one in after each ride if its dusty.
Scott SNo the one I got for a KTM 690 does not. But a great filter
PATRICK VYes but only each time you wash it which in the case of a dirt bike should be often!
Oma CHey Gil you may have to but I would run it with your stock jetting and then pull your spark plug to see if you are running lean or rich if your spark plug has a coffee or rust color to it then you're good to go.
Duane GNo, it looks like it’s for the stock airbox connection
